Classes Offered

We are a non-competitive dance studio focused on technique and artistry for the dancer who is seeking to find the limits of what they are capable of, while striking a balance with all other aspects of their life.

Preschool Combo Classes: Classes are 45 min-on hour long (depending on class); half ballet, half tap. Skill focus is basic and foundational for each subject. Skills included are ballet positions, keeping the body limber, balance, following directions/ follow the leader type skills, hopping, skipping, basic tap sounds and steps (learning parts of the shoe), song and dance, using the imagination, taking turns, and fostering self confidence. Preschool 1 is for dancers age 3&4, Preschool 2 is for dancers age 4&5. Please do note that students must be potty trained to begin dance classes.

Kindergarten Combo Classes: Kindergarten only classes are one hour long, with 30 minutes of ballet and 30 minutes of tap.

Kindergarten and Grade 1 Combo Classes: We offer three classes in a row for this age group so that you can choose to combine any mix of tap, ballet, and jazz. Ballet is 45 minutes long and is positioned in between tap and jazz on the schedule to strongly encourage dancers to get a good foundation in ballet to enhance their other dance style choices.

Ballet: an artistic dance form performed to music using precise and highly formalized set steps and gestures. Classical ballet, which established its present form during the 19th century, is characterized by light, graceful, fluid movements.

Pointe: Based on classical ballet, done with special shoes with a wooden box around the toes. Students must be enrolled in a ballet class and require approval from their ballet teacher to take pointe to avoid injury.

Tap: a dance performed wearing shoes fitted with metal taps, characterized by rhythmical tapping of the toes and heels.

Jazz: a dance form or dance that is matched to the rhythms and techniques of jazz music, developed by African Americans in the early part of the 20th century. Currently matched to types of upbeat music of all eras.

Lyrical: a dance style that embodies various aspects of ballet, jazz, and modern. Use of expression and mood is imperative to lyrical dance; all students enrolled in lyrical must also be enrolled in ballet.

Movement Fundamentals/Concepts, Choreography/Freestyle: A variety of movement styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. It includes a wide range of styles, including popping, breaking, and made popular by dance crews in the United States.

All students are encouraged to take Ballet to support their other styles of dance.

Class placement is based on grade level, but more importantly, level of ability. If at any time a dancer seems to be in a class that is not appropriate for their level, we will do our best to shift them into the appropriate level so that they get the most out of their dance experience! Tip: When registering your dancer, we suggest you filter and sort your options by day/time, or level.
