General Policies

A note from Kelly: “I’m a believer that there shouldn’t be rules just for rules’ sake. All of these policies are in place for the safety and positive experience of our students, their families, and staff. Thank you so much for contributing to a healthy environment for all of us.”

All students and parents will be asked to sign a “Positive Environment” agreement upon registration. This is to ensure the comfort and safety of all families at MHDC.

The lobby is a place for families to wait for their children during class; it is not a play area. We respectfully ask folks to keep this a safe space for everyone. We also politely request that you respect the space by keeping it clean.

Classes will begin and end promptly at their scheduled times. We ask that students arrive on time for class. This will ensure that class is not disrupted by a late arrival, and also will ensure students properly warm up their bodies to avoid injury.

Good attendance is encouraged. Please let us know if student is going to be late, absent, or leave early. Excessive absences can result in student falling behind in their lessons, which can lead to lack of confidence.

All teachers at MHDC are here to see students grow and thrive. Please respect the teachers and any assistants, as well as other students in class, at all times. If a teacher is offering a correction, please try to correct the action so that the teacher can help you achieve your next goal! If the teacher is correcting a student, the other students should watch, listen, and apply the correction as if it was given to them as well.

Please thank your teacher after class; it’s a great habit to get into to show gratitude for those who are committed to your success.

Please only bring water into the studio; please do not bring food or gum. Thank you!

Dance is a time to be present and intentional; cell phones distract us from being completely present. Please leave cell phones at home or in a dance bag silenced during class.

Dancers should arrive no more than 15 minutes ahead of class, and should be picked up promptly. This allows teachers to be adequately prepared for all classes.

Classes will run with a minimum of 4 students. If a class has low enrollment, we will do our best to accommodate enrolled students into another class. Exceptions will be made in the case that a semi-private rate is charged instead of regular tuition.

Please note that policies can change. We truly appreciate all of your cooperation.

Tuition

Tuition is based on a yearly sum broken into 10 equal payments from September-June, regardless of how many weeks are in the month. It is billed monthly from September-June, and is due on the 1st of the month. We require a credit card to be on file to avoid delinquent accounts. Any tuition not received by the 5th of the month will result in $15 late fee. Late fees will be applied automatically to any accounts that are not up to date on the 6th of the month. Please communicate financial hardships directly with Kelly. We will handle this discreetly; financial burdens should not be a reason to keep your student out of dance class. Tuition is calculated below:

1 hour per week: $67 monthly

2 hours per week: $127 monthly

3 hours per week: $181 monthly

Every additional 15 minutes is $13.50. Second and any subsequent family members receive a 10% discount from the above prices.

There is a one time per session registration fee of $30 per student/$35 per family. Tuition for the first month is due prior to first day of classes.

Tuition and costume fees are non refundable. If your dancer decides to withdraw from class after costume payment has been made, the costume is still yours to keep.

Dress Code

A dress code serves several purposes; it helps eliminate distractions, allows dancers to move properly, improves confidence, creates cohesiveness, and allows the teacher to see students’ alignment. In addition to the dress code outlined below, hair should be pulled back off of face. In all ballet classes, hair should be pulled back in a bun or braided and pinned securely. Please pin bangs back for dance class. Below are links that may be helpful. Brand are not required. I selected styles and brands that are good quality.

Below are our updated guidelines:

  • In alignment with CDC guidance on low risk areas and Stoneham Public Schools, masks are optional at this time. This policy is subject to change.

  • We will continue to keep a rigorous cleaning schedule.

  • Please keep student home from class if they are experiencing any of the symptoms of COVID19 outlined by the CDC.
